STEP 02 · CAN YOUR CAR RUN HERE?

The essentials.
No guesswork.

A few simple standards protect the carpet and keep the racing safe for everybody.

1/10SCALE OR SMALLER

Larger vehicles are not permitted on either racing surface.

2SLiPo MAXIMUM

Use a 2S LiPo battery or smaller for all track vehicles.

2WD1/10 OFF-ROAD ONLY

Smaller off-road vehicles may be 2WD or 4WD.

CLEANNO DIRT OR DEBRIS

Arrive with a clean vehicle fitted with its body.

Four-wheel-drive 1/10-scale on-road cars may be appropriate for the on-road layout. Flat-bottom chassis require chassis protectors; all buggies require shock tower guards. Official class rules and staff inspection determine final race eligibility.

STEP 03 · PACK YOUR PIT

What to bring.
What to know.

No need to overthink it. Start with the basics, and ask the shop if you need help.

01

Your RC vehicle + body

Bring a clean 1/10-scale or smaller vehicle fitted with its body. Staff can help check whether it meets the track requirements.

02

Radio + charged battery

Bring your transmitter and a suitable battery. Track vehicles are limited to 2S LiPo batteries or smaller.

03

A compatible charger

Pack the proper charger for your battery. Plenty of open pit stalls have power so you can charge and keep running.

04

Required protective parts

Flat-bottom chassis need chassis protectors, and every buggy needs shock tower guards. Check exposed screws before driving.

READY-TO-RUN

Want the simplest start?

Ready-to-run vehicles are a convenient way to get driving. What is included varies by model, so check whether a battery and charger come in the box.

RACE KIT

Want to build your racer?

Race kits typically require assembly and additional components such as electronics, a radio, a servo, a suitable battery, a charger, and sometimes a body or tires.

Anywhere, anytime.

A transponder is not required to practice or race, but an MRT or MyLaps two-wire transponder unlocks live lap times, race results, championship standings, and your personal driver profile. Transponders are always available to rent or purchase at Indy RC.

REAL QUESTIONS · STRAIGHT ANSWERS

Still wondering?
We've got you.

Do I have to race to use the track?+

Not at all. Open practice is $5 per person for the day. Check the weekly schedule to see which layout is set up and when practice is available.

Can my friends and I race cars that do not have a listed class?+

Possibly! We are open to additional race classes beyond the ones currently listed. If you and some buddies have similar track-legal vehicles, give us a call. It typically takes at least four cars to make a race, and all additional classes must be approved by the track.

Which days can I practice with my car?+

Monday and Thursday welcome all track-legal off-road, on-road, and oval vehicles. Off-road vehicles can also practice Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday; on-road vehicles can practice Friday; oval vehicles can practice Sunday. On race days, your car must match that day's racing type, but it does not need to qualify for an organized race class.

Can I bring a four-wheel-drive vehicle?+

For 1/10-scale off-road, vehicles must be two-wheel drive. Vehicles smaller than 1/10 scale may be two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Four-wheel-drive 1/10-scale on-road vehicles may run when appropriate for the on-road layout. Staff can confirm your particular vehicle.

Do I need a transponder just to get started?+

No. A transponder is not required to practice or race. However, an MRT or MyLaps two-wire transponder unlocks live lap times, official race results, championship standings, and your personal driver profile. Transponders are always available to rent or purchase at Indy RC.

Is there somewhere to plug in my charger?+

Yes. The facility has plenty of open pit stalls with power. Bring the correct charger for your battery and supervise batteries while they charge.

Can families and first-time racers come?+

Absolutely. Indy RC is a friendly, family-focused, climate-controlled indoor facility. You do not need previous race experience to come see what it is all about.

Do you have somewhere to run a rock crawler?+

Yes! Our separate rock crawler course is for 1/18-scale and smaller crawlers. It is open whenever Indy RC is open, costs $5 for the day, and is included with any other paid track fee. Whether you are killing time or waiting between races, this course is a hit. Crawlers belong on the crawler course—not on the racing tracks.

What if I am not sure what car or equipment to buy?+

Call or stop by the hobby shop. We can help you compare ready-to-run vehicles and race kits, find a compatible battery and charger, and figure out what works for practice or your preferred class.
